Easter Egg Hunt

Today some of the Americans got together for a picnic and an egg hunt. A couple of the moms hid eggs at the park. The kids were so excited to find their eggs! We have had such beautiful weather here the past couple of weeks, but wouldn't you know today we would have rain! It just misted some, but it was a little chilly. The kids didn't seem to mind though. Most of my pictures of the egg hunt didn't turn out because of the "mist". After the hunt I coaxed them into posing for a couple of pictures for the grandparents! Enjoy :-)

Adalee was so excited! She was one big blur.

Our Getaway at Chateau de Montrieul

For Christmas, Abrahm gave me a getaway to a little French Chateau on the west coast. Because of weather and crazy things happening, we have had to reschedule it several times. We finally picked a date, dropped all the kiddos off at their friends houses and took off West. It was a beautiful drive in the country. Montrieul is a quaint little French town. We checked into our Chateau and then walked outside the gates to the Citadel.

The Montreuil Sur Mer Citadel was really nice. It was built in 13th century. Overall it was in really nice condition. We had fun exploring all the buildings. The Blockhouses were actually used in WW1 by the British as their communication bunkers.

The chateau was lovely. Things were just starting to bloom. We just hung out during the day and then ate dinner at their restaurant that evening. The food was fantastic! We had the 7 course "Surprise Menu". All of the courses were fantastic. They first brought out a couple of Amuse Bouches. Then the first course was an asparagus dish with a beurre blanc sauce and quail eggs. The second course was a delicious crab gratin. The third dish was baked sole with leeks and a green sauce. The fourth dish was an amazing duck and rice dish with a delicious sauce. The fifth dish was a sheep's milk cheese dish with a sesame crust on top. The sixth dish was beetroot with black currants. The final dish was a cake with four layers: Raspberry jellee, pistachio cream, chocolate crunch, and shortbread base. I am really going to miss the food here when we leave!

*The pictures aren't the best because they were all made with my cell phone. I left my camera at home!

We stayed in the iris room.

Abrahm's Promotion Ceremony

On the 20th of March, Abrahm had his Promotion Ceremony. He was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel. It was a fantastic day.

We had spent the week before preparing for the event. We made so much yummy food! We decided to go with an "All American" theme. We made pulled pork sandwiches with homemade BBQ sauce. We also made baked beans. We served them with potato chips and veggie cups. For the dessert table I made cupcakes, patriotic fruit parfaits and star cookies we put in the shape of the flag. It was a lot of work, but everyone seemed to enjoy it.
