Last Post from Alaska

Well I can't believe it's time to move already, but the Army says we must, so we're off!!! We'll leave on Sunday morning and will board the ferry on Monday night. We'll be on the ferry for 4 nights and 3 full days before arriving in Bellingham, Washington. We're then headed to Portland, Salt Lake City and Denver to do a little sightseeing before arriving in Kansas on 11 July.

Other news from here:

• We sold the house!!!! We closed on Thursday (after a SMALL problem) and now the house is officially someone elses. It was kind of sad saying goodbye to our house. We really loved living there.
• The boys had their final doctor's appointments and Adam is now 36 pounds and 40 inches and Alden is 27 pounds and 35 inches. Both are above the 95 percentile for height. The doc said both are healthy and ready to go. (Peodogi had his checkup too! He weighs 22 pounds.)
• We said our final goodbyes. The company threw a very nice farewell for me at lunch today. Several spouses and soldiers came. They gave me wonderful gifts and are sending me off with a much bigger ego :) Thanks to all of you who made my time in Bravo company so special!

I am sure there are other important events I am leaving out, but I am way too tired and my brain just isn't working right. We'll be able to post updates, but no pictures until we arrive and get settled in. Sorry.

Please say a little prayer for us that we have safe travels and we don't hurt each other too much!!! We're looking forward to our "vacation". Until the next city.........

Summer Solstice Festival

Today was summer solstice. Fairbanks is in the midst of enjoying 22 hours and 50 minutes of sunshine. The sun rose at 2:57 a.m. today (Wednesday) and won't dip below the horizon again until 12:47 a.m. Thursday. There are runs, celebrations, sales and just about everything else you can think of to celebrate the longest day of the year. This year we took some time out from our packing to enjoy the Summer Solstice Festival downtown. The kids had a great time.

Pioneer Park

To get some fresh air and get out of the house, on Tuesday night we picked up a pizza and headed to Pioneer Park for dinner. The kids had a great time and it was really nice to just rest and relax for a little bit.

The Oil Pipeline

We decided to take the boys to the pipeline on our way home from taking Abrahm out to eat for Father's Day last night. We thought that one day it would be neat for them to see pictures of themselves at the pipeline when they lived in Alaska. The kids had fun running around and checking everything out.

What Did I Say?

Last night before the kids went to bed they were splashing in a puddle from all the rain we've had. This morning as we were heading out to the doctor's office

Adam asked me, "Mommy where did all of that water go?"

I immediately responded, "Adam the sun was so bright last night that it dried it all up."

That just doesn't sound right does it? Oh, the many things I am going to miss about Alaska.
