A Visit from the Paci Ferry

Well I decided it was finally time for the Paci Ferry to come for a visit. We had gotten Adalee to only using a pacifier at bedtime and in the car, but over the past month with all of the traveling and Grandparents visiting, she started relying on it more and more. We have been talking about the big visit for quite a while now. Adalee is so strong willed (much more so than the boys) so I have truly been dreaded this.

So last night was the big night. She collected all of her pacifiers in her princess bag and said goodbye to them one last time. She then put them outside her door and crawled in bed. I read her a story and she immediately went to sleep. She never even asked for them. She kind of whined once about midnight or so, but never really woke up or asked for her paci. When she woke up this morning she was so excited to see that the Paci Ferry had indeed brought her the treasures she had asked for.

She got a new Hello Kitty stuffed animal so she has something new and special to snuggle with since she doesn't have a paci in her bed anymore. Then she got some real "lipstick". She always wants mine, but I have told her no since she can't put lipstick on with a paci in her mouth. Then she also got a little bracelet and some Hello Kitty Kinder eggs.

So far, so good. She hasn't asked about them even one time today. Let's hope it is the same when she goes to bed tonight.

(On a side note, I asked the boys last night if they still remembered what the Paci Ferry brought them. Both of them remembered. Down to exactly which trains they received and what stuffed animal it was)

I guess they only say goodbye to their pacis one time right?

Adam's Birthday Celebrations

Adam turned 7 on May 20th! I just can't wrap my mind around the fact that my sweet baby boy that I brought home to Alaska (that was 5 homes ago by the way) is now a big boy. He amazes me everyday. I am so proud of him I can't even begin to describe it. I will dedicate a post to him at some point, but for now here are some photos of his birthday week. We will have his big birthday party next weekend with all of his friends from his class. By the way, they only speak French. It should by my most interesting party to date. Wish me luck! :-)

On Friday before my parents left we had a family birthday party for Adam. Since it was movie night we had pizza and veggies. Then I made a special dinosaur dessert. After dinner he opened presents. Such a fun night. We were glad Grandma Jean and Papaw could be here for it.

Adam's Spectac!

Last week Adam's class performed their Spectac (spectacular). They had worked with a local musician interpreting pieces of art and then turning them into songs. His class had 2 pieces of art they sang about. It was pretty impressive. I was so proud of Adam for standing up there and singing in French with his whole class. He's come such a long way in 9 months! I hope to upload a video of him singing soon.

Normandy

While my parents were visiting we took a long weekend and went to Normandy. We saw Arromanches where the artificial harbor was built. We also went to Longues sur Mer and saw the German Battery. Then we headed to the American Cemetery and Omaha Beach. We also visited Pointe du Hoc. The second day we went to the Museum in Caen. It was an amazing weekend. To see where our soldiers fought and died was a powerful experience.
