A Little Bit of This and That

The following are just some random pictures I have taken over the past week. Nothing too exciting, but we figured Grandparents were going through withdrawals!

Our new oven came with it's own rotisserie. It's great! We've made a yummy chicken and we also made shrimp tonight.

Apparently there are a lot of mosquitos here. When I say alot, I mean A LOT! I probably have about 60 bites total on me at this moment. The kids each have 20 or so. They are driving us crazy. If anyone has any good ideas for how to get rid of them or how to make the bites stop itching, I'd love to know! We think we have solved part of the problem, but it is pretty ridiculous!

Our First Day in our New House

Last Monday we officially moved into our new apartment (well, kind of). We showed up at 10:00 am for the walk through/inspection and found that our unaccompanied baggage (small 1000 pound shipment) folks were already waiting for us so they could deliver our stuff. When we got here, we realized things weren't quite ready for us. Small things, like the ELECTRICITY had never been connected. Every outlet had exposed wires. The place had not been cleaned up from the construction, several windows were broken, the deck had broken boards, and much, much more! It just so happened that our "translator" from the Citadel where Abrahm works, didn't show up that day to help us. Oh, and did I forget to mention the other folks from Belgium that were delivering our appliances and loaner furniture also showed up during that time. So for a while we had the 5 of us, our real estate lady, the inspector, the electrician, the moving company, and the loaner furniture people all in our little 1600 square foot apartment at the same time! (I am not even going to mention the cleaning crew the real estate company sent over to clean). Talk about getting off on the right foot.

Fortunately for us everything worked out and we were able to spend the night in our apartment with electricity! It was a long day, but somehow we managed.

Now we are just waiting for our household good shipment. It is currently stuck in some port in France waiting for clearance from customs. It was not supposed to be shipped to France, so that confused a lot of folks. Last we heard, we had filled out all 5000 pieces of paper and are just waiting for them to tell us a time when they can deliver!

We bought the kids a little present for the first day in their new house. I had bought a couple new Lego things for them since they didn't have much to play with.

Quick Update

Hello Everyone! Thanks for all the emails and messages. We are still alive and kicking. We will not officially have internet until next week (I think that is what they said). So until then, our sweet French neighbor is letting us "borrow" her wireless connection. We had a fun adventure this weekend. I hope the post some pictures this evening if I can get on the computer again. Until then I will leave you with one pic of my cuties at a castle in Belgium!
