Day 315 - Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving! We had a really nice day. My parents were here along with another lady, Julia, and her children. Julia's hubby deployed this past week, so we didn't want her to be alone today. She has 3 kids. They are 9, 6, and 2. The boys and Adalee loved, loved, loved playing with them. The weather here was beautiful today, so they spent most of the day running and playing outside!

Day 313

On Tuesday the kids had their Thanksgiving Feasts at school. They got all dressed up in their turkey attire and headed off. I had to take turkey cookies, mashed potatoes, and chicken for the children's classes. I spent most of the day wtih them. Their lunchtimes were staggered so I was able to sit with each child while they ate. Then I got to go down and watch Adam's performance. He played the bells and sang some songs. He did a great job!
After school, we tried to work on some things for Thanksgiving day. We started making our turkey cupcakes. However, we didn't get very far. Adalee started screaming around 4:00 and cried until abou 8:15 (when she passed out). She had come home from school with conjunctivitis in her eye, but it didn't seem to bother her much. I did try to get an appointment for the next day since Thursday was Thanksgiving and I didn't want to end up in the ER. But by 8:00 she was crying so inconsolably, that I decided to take her to the ER anyway. My friend Kelly came and watched the boys sleep and Adalee and I headed to Post. Can you say MISTAKE? When we arrived there were 50 people in the waiting room. I stood in line for about 10 minutes waiting my turn and then decided to go back home and fight for an appointment the next day. On the way home she started screaming again and threw up EVERYWHERE! We finally got home, I got her cleaned up and then put her to bed around midnight or so. The next morning her eye was stuck together and she couldn't open it. I called the appointment line again, only to be told there were no appointments. I guess I sounded so desperate that she offered to take my number and call me when there was a cancellation. About 9 am she called and told me I could have an appointment for 1:55.
My parents had gotten up early and arrived at my house at 7:45 to help. They watched the kids while I took Adalee. Turns out she has conjunctivitis in both eyes and a raging ear infection. The doctor things she threw up due to exhaustion /pain. She gave us eye drops, ear drops, amoxil, and motrin. After taking the ear drops, Adalee seemed to feel much better and finally started eating again.
