Day 128

This will be a short post this evening. I am pretty beat. Adalee is doing better today. She has been fever free all day long. She's still a little whiny and clingy, but I think that's just leftovers from being sick. She did manage to play some today, so that was good. The boys enjoyed just hanging out and playing here at home. I spent the day working around the house. It's amazing how quickly it gets to be a mess.

Tomorrow we have church. I have to teach Sunday School so we'll have to be up and going pretty early. Wish us luck!

Days 126 and 127

I am posting pretty early tonight because I am planning on heading to bed fairly early. I've had about 6 hours of sleep over the past 2 nights. Needless to say, I am exhausted! Adalee seems to have picked up something at one of her well baby check ups! She has been running a fever for the past 3 days. She is very grumpy and clingy to Mommy. She is also NOT sleeping. We're still not sure what is wrong. I spent 4 hours with her at the ER last night (on Post). When we arrived at the hospital her temp was over 104. She was crying and breathing very quickly. They gave us some motrin and then proceeded to make us wait for over 2 hours to see the nurse. Very irritating. We really didn't get any answers and I won't bore you with another terrible hospital story! Once we got home at midnight she couldn't get to sleep. She would fall asleep and then jerk herself awake again. This went on until 4:00 this morning. A little after 4:00 she finally passed out.

While she was feeling better yesterday morning we met some friends over at one of their relatives' house and I took some photos of her daughter for her husband. I am definately not a professionsal photographer, but we got some good pictures. I was able to snap a couple of my kids as well.

Also yesterday we had a nice surprise. Early this week some friends of ours emailed and said they would be here at the end of the week. John and Abrahm were stationed here in the same chinook battalion when they were new Lieutenants. John and his wife Yali had one baby here during that time. Shortly after Estelle arrived, John decided to go to law school and then branch transferred to JAG. We hadn't heard from them in a while and he turned up with us in Korea and was actually Abrahm's trial counsel during his command. Yali actually took over my classroom when I quit teaching there. We enjoyed being with them again. Afterwards we moved to Alaska and they moved to Ft. Lewis. The last time we saw them was in Washington on our trip across the country when we came home from Alaska. Now they are in Virginia and came down to check on their rental house here in Clarksville. They brought all 4 of their girls, ages 11 to 7 months, and spent the night with us. It was so wonderful to catch up with them and see their 4 beautiful and special little girls. (Did I mention the baby never made a peep the whole time?) The kids played beautifully together and we got a great visit in. They even watched the boys so I could take Adalee to the hospital last night. Lifelong friendships are one of the huge bonuses of the Army life. We have met some truly amazing folks over the years. It can be 2 or 10 years since we've seen each other last and it's like we've never been apart. I am so thankful for this gift. I can't wait for a couple more weeks when we get to see some of our other military friends from years past!
