Day #324

We have a boat!!! (I say that with a fair amount of confidence). Abrahm called today and said they had a boat and hopefully a plane and they should be home in time for Christmas. The exact date is still to be determined. So just another week or so left. Yea!!! Thank you so much for all your prayers. Please continue to do so. We have our first group of soldiers leaving in the morning and they should arrive here on Sunday. I am starting to get a little excited.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, but things are crazy here. It's not been the best week. I've had many, many, many FRG issues to deal with. Most of them are just with one individual, but it's really starting to annoy me. Hopefully she'll be better after her husband comes home this weekend. We have been busy with FRG stuff this week. We decorated and made up the rooms for the single soldiers that are going into the barracks. We made and posted signs in the hangar. So now it's just waiting for this group to arrive.

I had car trouble on Tuesday night. We were heading out to our friend's house to eat dinner. On our way there the car broke down. So I had to call a tow truck and my friend to come get us. Talk about fun. But fortunately we have great friends. Ann Marie picked us up and installed all the carseats in her car and took us home. She even brought dinner for us.

Today I finally got my day away. Mrs. Suzanne came over with gifts for everyone. There's nothing like little presents to make everyone smile. She kept the boys for a few hours while I ran my errands and did a couple more preparations for the soldiers. Thank you Mrs. Suzanne. We sure do love you!!

Day #320 ABRAHM IS IN KUWAIT!!!

Well finally a post I've been waiting to write for almost a year now. Abrahm has made it back to Kuwait!!! He flew the last flight to Kuwait today. So now all 11 chinooks are in Iraq safely. Praise God!!! We still have a way to go and lots of obstacles to overcome, but he's out of Iraq now. I think we're all breathing a little easier tonight. Please continue to pray for a boat and plane to be designated for Abrahm and his soldiers. Also continue to pray for their safety as they work up to the last minute to prepare to come home. And make sure you say prayers of Thanksgiving for his safe arrival in Kuwait and for God watching over him this past year in Iraq. We're almost done!!!

Update on Alden's Mouth

It just occurred to me that I hadn't posted about what the oral sugeon said about Alden's mouth. I've had lots of emails. Sorry for putting you off. Things have been so busy and crazy here lately. I guess it's just that time of year for everyone!!

We had a great appointment with the oral/facial surgeon. He did a thorough exam and even tried to manipulate that loose tooth. Here are his conclusions:

• There is no break or fracture in the jaw itself.
• The injury was pretty severe. His gums are still swollen and taking a long time to heal. But because of the severity of the injury to his gums the bottom left baby tooth is having a hard time reattaching.
• The doc feels he is going to loose that tooth. We are going to go back on the 14th of December and if the tooth hasn't reattached itself, he is going to go ahead and pull it. He feels as though it's going to cause more problems if it stays in place and dies rather than just getting rid of it.

So all in all, not a bad report. We're still praying that the gum heals itself so that the tooth will reattach. He still can't bite down on that front tooth, but has figured out how to work around it and is eating well again. He is also cutting 4 more teeth. So we're having lots of fun. Thank you so much for your prayers and concerns. I'll keep you posted.

Day #318

Another cold day here in Alaska. I think I saw the temp as low as -34 today. It was beautiful though. It was clear and sunny. You could even see the mountains. I do love the beauty of Alaska. We spent the day at the hangar on post painting welcome home signs for our soldiers.
Adam had a great time running and checking out the blackhawk that was on display there. Alden just napped most of the time.

News from Iraq. Abrahm flew his last mission a couple of nights ago. His last flight in Iraq is on in a couple of days. He'll be heading to Kuwait until he is able to come home. Lots of exciting things happening over there. All of his vehicles and 9 helicopters are in Kuwait now. He has 100 of his soldiers there as well. The first group of 60 of his soldiers are supposed to be here in Fairbanks sometime on Sunday. So that's good news. Unfortunately, Abrahm won't be in that group. We're still not sure when he's coming. As of today there was no boat and no airplane. So please continue to pray that Abrahm arrives in Kuwait safely and that all these details work themselves out so he can make it home in time for Christmas.
