Abrahm wanted me to start out the blog... We were bored this weekend and really had nothing better to do, so we hopped on the train to Paris for the weekend. I thought that was rubbing it in a little too much, so I'll start my way. :)
We did venture to Paris this weekend. We had an amazing time. We took the train down after the boys got out of school on Friday afternoon. It is only 1 hour by train to Paris. The kids were quite excited to ride on a train. They have been waiting for that ever since we arrived in France. Once we arrived in Paris we took the Metro to our hotel. It wasn't anything fancy, but it was really nice for European standards. It fit all five of us with no problem at all. There was one odd thing about the beds though. They were all single beds. Two were pushed together on one side of the room and on the other side of the divider, the other two were pushed together. Do people in Paris not sleep with each other? Just asking...
The night we arrived is a night I will always remember. We got off the Metro and turned to walk to our hotel. Before Abrahm and I even noticed, the boys saw the Eiffel Tower all light up. You could only see the top half, but that didn't matter. They stood in the street, jumping up and down, screaming "Mommy it's the Eiffel Tower!" over and over. Their reaction was priceless. It was worth every penny we spent this weekend. On the way home today Adam leaned over and told me "Mom, sometimes dreams do come true. I always wished I could see the Eiffel Tower and my wish came true!" Love. that. boy!
On Saturday morning we got up, ate breakfast at one of the local Patesseries and headed straight for the Eiffel Tower. The kids were in awe. All 3 (make that 5 of us) were amazed by it. We spent about 1 hour in line to go up. We wandered all around the top (well not the very top, just the middle level) and soaked up being there.
After the Tower, we hopped on the RER (another type of Metro) and headed to the Cathedral at Notre Dame. It was absolutely breathtaking as well. The stone work is unbelievable. My favorite were all the stained glass windows. Wow! is all I can say.
After that we wandered back to the hotel for a few mintues and then walked back to the Eiffel Tower for dinner. We spend some time there after dinner looking at it all lit up.
On Sunday we got up and headed to the Arc de Triumph. The sheer size is awe inspiring. We were able to go to the top and see the beautiful views. After that we walked down the Avenue de Champs Elysees. It is a pretty famous street for fine shopping. We didn't really go into any stores, we just enjoyed the walk and had yummy crepes for a snack.
Then we headed back to the hotel, got our stuff and headed to the train station. Overall, it was a very successful trip. The weather was amazing, and for the most part, the kids did really well. I can't wait to go back!

All of us at the train station in Lille ready to board our train.
