We've had a busy couple of weeks. We're putting our house up for sale next week so we've been cleaning, throwing away things, rearranging, throwing away more things, organizing, and throwing away EVERYTHING!!! Well, you get the picture. It's hard to find a happy medium between the pristine, magazine house and the messy, fingerprints on everything home that 2 toddlers live in. We're getting there.
Great news for Alden. After 12 months we finally got our appointment with a dermatologist. In 5 minutes she had the answer to our problems, wrote us a couple of prescriptions and sent us on our way. (It actually took longer than that, but you get the idea). Since that day, Alden's skin has gone from scaly, red, blotchy, and scabby to beautiful, baby soft skin. It's amazing. I just rub his back and legs and tummy to feel how soft he is. She even explained what we could do if we wanted to take him swimming. A few days ago we swam for the first time in a really long time, and his skin was perfect afterwards. I just can't believe the difference. It makes me very angry the Army doctors made him suffer for a year when the solution was so simple. They're about to hear some not so nice things from me.
Alden also had an echocardiogram done this week. It was an ultrasound of his heart. Since November we've been waiting to have that done. I finally raised enough of a stink and they sent us off post to the local hospital. We should have the results in a couple of days. Please pray the murmur turns out to be nothing.
Adam started swim class again this week. He is doing so great. He is learning the backstroke. It's really cute to see a two year old try to do the backstroke.
He had a couple of cute things he said today:
First we were going to make cupcakes. So I got out the box and put it on the counter. I turned it over and talked to Adam about the list of ingredients. He immediately noticed the three eggs. So he went to the fridge and got three eggs out. Then he got the mixer and the beaters out because he said we needed that. So we put the cake mix, oil, water and eggs in the bowl and started mixing. About that time Adam looked at me with a perplexed look on his face. He asked me "Don't we need to put butter in it?" Then he asked "Do we need sugar?" Then he asked "Don't we need milk?" I told him that we were using a mix and didn't need all those things. He just smiled and looked at me and said, "Mommy that was easy to make. We didn't even need a recipe!" He makes me sound like I am a gourmet cook!
It amazes me how smart he is. Tonight we went to Lowes to pick up some things for the house. As we were walking up to the building he noticed the decorations on the front of the building. There were red diamonds along the top. He said, "Mommy look. There are diamonds up there." I said very good Adam. Then he said, "Mommy they are squares too." I said, "What do you mean?" He said, "If you turn them on their sides they will be squares." It amazes me how he can pick that kind of stuff out.
